Greensboro, NC — A man working with the City of Greenboro was sent to the hospital on Wednesday of this week (August 5, 2015) after his white garbage truck caught some power lines and flipped over. This was on Burnt Poplar Road and the driver was later identified as Rodney Miller, 46 years old. What caused the accident isn’t quite clear, but it appears that Miller was driving along Burnt Poplar Road near Boulder Road around 10:15 a.m. that morning when his tailgate accidentally caught on some power lines.

The truck was then pulled off balance and tipped onto the driver’s side, leaving Mr. Miller with injuries.

Paramedics were called to the scene and he was immediately taken to a hospital, though his condition wasn’t believed to be serious.

Allegedly, this isn’t the first time a City of Greensboro garbage truck has been involved in an accident. Back in April of 2014, a City of Greensboro employee caused an accident with a Honda Civic after pulling into traffic, then swerved off the road and hit a local daycare center. That accident happened at Hillcrest Drive and Friendly Avenue.

Nobody was injured in that incident except the truck driver, Cleveland Williams, and his passenger.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
