Littleton, CO — A tow truck driver was hurt in an alleged drunk driving accident in Littleton, Colorado, on Sunday, August 2, 2015. The accident took place near the intersection of E. Euclid Avenue and S. Broadway, around 2:!5 in the morning.

The man hurt in the accident was identified as 57-year-old Rodney Bowser. He was assisting in the cleanup following a single-vehicle accident when 21-year-old Monique Reno drove around cones that police had set up and ran into him.

After hitting Bowser, Reno drove off. Police caught up with her not long after and placed her under arrest. She’s been charged with hit and run, vehicular assault, and DUI.

Bowser was seriously injured in the accident, and emergency workers took him to Littleton Hospital for treatment.

Anytime I see an accident like this, I ask whether or not the driver responsible for the accident was at a bar at some point previous to the accident that day. Yes, it’s always possible that this woman was drinking at home, but given the time of day at which the accident happened, I wouldn’t be surprised if she was at a bar. Finding this information out is important because many states across the country, Colorado included, have laws which prohibit bars from serving customers who are obviously intoxicated. Hitting someone with your car after driving around a police barricade and then driving off are not things normal people just do on a whim, so I wonder exactly how much she had had to drink.

If a bar chooses to ignore these laws and over-serves someone who should cut off, the bar can be held responsible for any accidents that person goes out and gets into. So, with that in mind, this is definitely something that should be looked into. However, the involvement of a bar notwithstanding, we have to remember this woman hit a man with her car and just drove off. That’s something she needs to be held accountable for, whether or not she had been drinking.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
