Worker Jeremy Blair Injured after 25-Foot Fall at Wahoo Ziplines

Sevierville, TN — There was a serious accident reported at the Wahoo Ziplines business in Sevierville this past Monday, August 3, 2015. An employee named Jeremy Blair, 35 years old, was badly injured after accidentally falling about 25 feet that day.

The accident happened around 11:00 a.m. that morning, police said.

Blair was working at Wahoo Ziplines and was in a wooded area when something went wrong and he fell from a platform. He landed on the ground and then rolled downhill about 50 feet, the police reported. He had to be taken to a hospital via helicopter and was last said to be in serious, but stable condition.

Commentary:

I’m sure my readers remember the fatal zipline accident at a North Carolina camp earlier this summer. It seems like safety is absolutely crucial at these places, and I’m wondering how many accidents are going to happen until people start getting serious about investigating and demanding that changes be made.

I don’t think anyone here was being deliberately unsafe or had a blatant disregard for safety, but there’s a saying we like to use at our firm regarding negligence. “It’s not enough to not mean to hurt someone, you have to mean to not hurt them. In other words, good intentions simply aren’t enough, you need to be proactive in safety measures.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
