Shreveport, LA — There was an accident reported that left two people injured, one of them a man, this past Saturday morning (July 25, 2015). The details of what happened aren’t clear yet, but it appears that an 18-wheeler pulled into traffic on Woolworth Road early that morning and crashed into a white/silver pickup truck.
Two people in the pickup were injured and had to be taken to a hospital. One source said that the injuries were minor and the hospital visit was simply a checkup, but another source claimed that they were much more seriously hurt.
The 18-wheeler’s driver wasn’t harmed. Police said that the big rig had been driving along Woolworth that morning around 4:30 when it tried to make a left-hand turn into a parking lot. As it did, it cut off an oncoming pickup truck and caused a major collision.
So far, it doesn’t look like any charges have been filed.

Commentary:
This kind of thing rubs me the wrong way, as my readers well know. Unless there’s something here I’m missing, it sounds an awful lot like this 18-wheeler just wasn’t paying attention to the road when he tried to pull into traffic. And as I understand it, these men were not just slightly injured, but have had major surgery since the accident.
What exactly was going that morning? Was the 18-wheeler’s driver just not paying very much attention to the road? Was he looking down at his phone? There are more questions than answers here and I really wish the police did a better job of investigating and posting information. One of the ways we can stop accidents like this from happening is by making examples out of negligent truckers.
