Lawmakers in Texas have passed laws saying that it’s illegal for a bar or similar establishment to sell anyone liquor if they’re obviously intoxicated. The reason for this is pretty simple: They don’t want a bunch of people being over-served, and then going out and getting into accidents. If a bar chooses to ignore this law, which they sometimes do, then it can be held liable for any injuries resulting from an accident. It’s very possible that there was no liquor store or bar involved in this accident, but the possibility needs to be looked into.
