Aventura, FL — A construction worker was hospitalized after a fall at a job site in Aventura, Florida, on Sunday, July 26, 2015. The accident took place in the 2900 block of Aventura Blvd., around 9:00 in the morning.
Local sources say that the man was working on a crane, and fell about 15 feet to the ground below. Emergency workers took the man to a local hospital for treatment. The man’s name and the extent of his injuries are unknown.
What caused the accident isn’t clear at this time. The accident is currently under investigation.

Unfortunately, I hear about accidents like this quite a bit. While it’s probably safe to say that you’re never going to be able to prevent 100% of accidents, I still see employers all over the country not doing enough to prevent some of those. Especially at construction sites, where many of these accidents are foreseeable, workers aren’t given safety harnesses, there aren’t enough railings and barricades being put in place. I’m really at a loss to explain it. These things can literally save lives, so what’s keeping employers from making that investment?
