Flint, MI — Police think that running a red light might have been the cause of a major accident between a moped and an MTA bus in the downtown area of Flint. The accident happened on Friday, July 17, at about 1:00 p.m. A man riding the moped was badly injured after his small motorized bike caught fire, the police reported.
According to them and the news, the man on the moped and the MTA bus collided at the intersection of Beach Street and 2nd Street.
The moped was headed west on 2nd Street that afternoon when he accidentally crashed into the side of an MTA bus that was headed north on Beach Street. Police said that one of the vehicles likely had a green light, but they aren’t sure which one.
Immediately after the wreck, the moped caught fire and the man riding was badly injured. He was rushed to a hospital and was in critical condition at the last update. His name hasn’t been released.
None of the folks on the bus were injured.
