Update [July 23, 2015]: The dump truck’s driver is named Ian Hernandez, 21, of Orlando.
Clermont, FL — The Florida Highway Patrol identified the driver who was injured in Tuesday’s accident as a 21-year old dump truck driver from Orlando, but they haven’t released his name yet. They said that the Orlando man was injured after his dump truck accident crashed and flipped over on Florida’s Turnpike that morning.
According to their reports, the accident took place near mile marker 283, north of Clermont, around 7:35 a.m. that morning, July 21, 2015.
The dump truck was empty and headed north along the turnpike when it suddenly lost control for unknown reasons. The truck then hit the guardrail in the median and flipped over, coming to a rest in oncoming traffic.
The 21-year old Orlando man behind the wheel was rushed to a hospital, but his condition wasn’t released. It’s not clear what caused his truck to overturn.
