Driver Critically Injured Following Three-Vehicle Accident in Houston, TX

Houston, TX — The driver of an SUV is in critical condition following a three-vehicle accident in Houston, Texas, on Thursday, July 23, 2015. The accident took place on the North Loop, near Hardy Street, around 12:00 at night.

Local reports say that an 18-wheeler crashed into a stalled pickup truck. The force of the collision caused the pickup to crash into an SUV, sending it into and over a concrete retaining wall.

Some witnesses say that the pickup was in the emergency lane, not in the middle of the road as some have reported.

The pickup truck was pinned beneath the 18-wheeler, and the driver suffered critical injuries. He was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital and reports say he’s expected to survive.

A family of four inside the SUV suffered only minor injuries.

The accident is still being investigated.

There are still questions that the reporting on this accident doesn’t provide answers to. How long had the truck been in the road when the accident happened? How fast was the truck driving at the time of the accident? Depending on the answers to these questions, the driver of the 18-wheeler could be held liable for the crash. Of course, anytime an 18-wheeler is involved in an accident like this, those involved are going to want to have a full investigation launched. The trucking company is likely going to have its own people investigating already, so why would you let them dictate how you’re going to be treated? Remember, at the end of the day, they’re looking after their own interests. Not yours.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
