Rollover Accident on Highway 2 Near Marion Leaves Trucker Hospitalized

Marion, Montana — A truck driver who hasn’t been named was taken to a hospital with serious injuries earlier this week after his tractor-trailer was in a wreck. It happened outside of Marion, which is in the northwest corner of Montana, and no highway name was given, though it was probably Highway 2.

Police said that a tractor-trailer was headed along the highway on Tuesday morning (July 21, 2015) around 10:15 a.m.

The driver somehow lost control of the truck (they think) and swerved into the opposite lanes of traffic. The truck then crashed through a short guardrail and flipped over, trapping the trucker inside the cab.

Paramedics were called and they had to cut the man out of his truck. He was rushed to a hospital via medical helicopter and treated for serious injuries.

His name hasn’t been released and it’s not clear who owned the truck he was driving.

Right now, it doesn’t look like any other drivers were involved.

Commentary:

A lot of police officers have already looked at this accident scene and some of them may have arrived at the conclusion (prematurely, if you ask me) that the trucker just lost control of his rig that morning. Maybe that’s the case, but then again, maybe it’s not. I always like to give folks the benefit of the doubt, so I wanted to point out that a poorly-maintained truck might be the reason this accident happened. For all we know, this truck was put behind the wheel of a rig that needed new brakes, or had a cracked steering column. I’m not one to speculate, of course, but I don’t think it’s fair to assume this man was at fault for the accident when it’s clear that not all the investigating has been done yet, just the preliminary stuff.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
