San Antonio, TX — There was an accident reported on Tuesday morning of this week (July 21, 2015) that involved a large Lowe’s delivery truck and a white pickup truck. Miraculously, the pickup truck driver wasn’t harmed after the Lowe’s truck rolled over on top of him on Hausman Road. However, two other cars were involved in the wreck and those driver suffered slight injuries. One of the drivers, in a Chevy Tahoe, was taken to a hospital with back-related injuries.

The accident itself took place at the intersection of Hausman Road and Loop 1604’s access road on Tuesday morning, around 11:30 a.m.

A Lowe’s truck was apparently driving along the access road that morning when a Chevy Tahoe tried to turn or change lanes directly in front of it. The Lowe’s truck hit the Tahoe, then spun around and rolled over, landing on a white pickup truck that had been sitting at a red light at Hausman Road.

The man in the white truck wasn’t actually harmed, though you can see from the picture above that the damage was catastrophic. The Tahoe’s driver was harmed, however, and another person in a different car also suffered minor injuries. The Lowe’s truck driver wasn’t harmed.

Right now, it’s not clear if any charges will be filed.

Commentary:

The way the news reports tell it, the driver of the Tahoe certainly seems to be at fault. Perhaps that’s the case, but I’ve actually been inside those big box trucks and I can tell you firsthand that it’s nearly impossible to see around the truck when trying to change lanes. Perhaps the Lowe’s truck was the one that switched lanes into the SUV’s path? A few things in the news reports just didn’t add up, so I thought I would ask my readers if they saw this crash or could clear things up.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
