I have to say, I see accidents just like this one quite often. Someone is working 20 or 30 feet off the ground, they fall and are put in the hospital. I really hope that there’s a corresponding number of stories I’m not reading (because they’re not being written) about workers who never have to go to the hospital because companies have invested more in safety measures to keep things like this from happening. A worker falling and hurting themselves isn’t exactly an unforeseen possibility. And to be frank, the construction industry just isn’t doing right by its employees. More should be done to make sure this sort of thing doesn’t happen. Hopefully this in an area in which the industry is able to improve in the coming years, because workers shouldn’t have to go to work every day wondering if they’re going to be fatally injured in an accident that’s completely preventable.
