Holland, MI — A woman was hospitalized after being injured in an accident with a forklift at Coastal Container in Holland, Michigan, on Monday, July 20, 2015. The accident happened around 5:00 in the afternoon.
Reports say that a woman working at the facility was hit by a forklift and pinned between paper products and a bench. She was seriously injured and taken to Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids for treatment. Her exact condition is unknown at this time.
The woman’s name hasn’t been released. Report say only that she is 21 years old.
It’s not clear if the Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been made aware of the accident.

Employer’s will usually have a workers’ comp policy that will step in and handle things whenever a work accident takes place. In some cases, depending on the accident, workers will not only be able to pursue a workers’ compensation claim through their employer, but also a negligence against any third parties that may have been involved in or are found to be responsible for an accident. What’s more, both of these claims are able to be pursued at the same time, and one can often help the case for the other. Obviously, third parties aren’t involved in all workplace accidents, but they are involved in some. Obviously, a little more investigation will be needed before we know whether or not that was the case.
