Wales, NY — There was a fatal accident reported on Route 20A (Big Tree Road) in Wales this past Tuesday that left a 9-year old child dead, a woman injured, and a 7-year old child injured. Police said that 52-year old Mark Korzelius is suspected of driving while under the influence of something and causing this accident.
According to their reports, Korzelius’ car lost control along Big Tree Road on Tuesday night (July 7, 2015) and swerved into oncoming traffic, hitting another car head-on.
This was at the intersection of Big Tree Road and Two Rod Road, they said.
Gail Hoffman was driving the other car and had two children, ages 9 and 7, as passengers, The accident seriously injured Hoffman and the two children, and all were rushed to a hospital. Unfortunately, the 9-year old child died.
The police who responded to the scene said that Korzelius looked to be impaired and they later arrested him. Right now, it’s not clear what he was under the influence of, but this is still under investigation.
