Montezuma, IN — A Chevrolet Camaro sports car crashed into an ATV while trying to pass it on a rural highway in Montezuma this past Wednesday night, leaving a Hillsdale man with severe injuries. Lloyd Porter, 72, was identified as the victim on the ATV and the Camaro’s driver was identified as Heather Waelterman, 25.
According to the authorities, Waelterman had been driving her Camaro east along U.S. 36 at about 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday night when she came upon Lloyd Porter riding his ATV in the same lane.
Porter slowed down before the Wabash Bridge was trying to make a left turn when Waelterman decided to pass him in her Camaro. As she did, however, she crashed into his ATV and he was ejected in the process.
Paramedics were called to the scene and Porter was rushed to a hospital with severe injuries. Police showed up as well and they ended up arresting Waelterman for driving with a suspended license and a false registration.
