Knoxville, TN — A woman was critically injured in an accident involving four vehicles in Knoxville, Tennessee, on Friday, June 26, 2015. The accident happened on the on-ramp going to Interstate 275 north from I-40 west.
Police identified William Jerde as the driver of a GMC envoy that crashed into that crashed into the back of a Chevrolet Mustang being driven by 24-year-old Kristin Woods, and carrying 52-year-old Lesha Massengill as a passenger.
The force of the collision pushed the Mustang into a Nissan Maxima being driven by 44-year-old Dexter Richey, before it hit a semi-truck being driven by 62-year-old Vernon Johnson.
Police say that Jerde was on his cellphone at the time of the accident.
Everyone involved in the accident was taken to UT Medical Center. Woods has been listed in critical condition after suffering life-threatening injuries.
