Commentary
Bottom line, truck drivers are responsible for making sure that their trucks are able to be taken out on the road. That they’re safe, and that the simple act of driving them down the highway isn’t going to kill someone. A tire coming off a truck is a big deal. Whether it came off the truck itself, or was loaded onto the back and came loose, something went wrong here. There was some oversight — either with the maintenance of the truck or with whoever was responsible for securing its load — made here that could have potentially caused much more damage than it did. I’d say that at the very least, the driver of the truck has some tough questions to answer.
