Pleasantville, NJ — Earlier this week, a rider on a bicycle was injured on the Black Horse Pike after they were hit by a flatbed truck in an accident. This happened around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning, June 24, 2015 near the intersection with Athens Avenue.
The news didn’t offer many details as to what happened, exactly, but they indicated that the cyclist may have been riding on Black Horse Pike (not the sidewalk) when this happened.
That person’s name wasn’t released, but they had to be taken to a nearby hospital to be treated after the flatbed truck hit them.

When there are no details offered by the media or the police in accidents like this, it makes determining what actually happened very difficult. I will say, however, that bicyclists are unfortunately (and commonly) invisible to most drivers on the road. When you’re in a large flatbed truck, it’s especially hard to see cyclists, so I’m wondering if this bicyclist was hit because the truck driver wasn’t paying attention? There seem to be a few things that don’t add up.
