Indiana law says that any establishment serving alcohol is forbidden from serving those who are obviously intoxicated. The reason for a law like this should be pretty clear. The more alcohol someone drinks, the greater chance they have of getting into an accident. Sometimes, bars ignore these laws and over-serve those who should be cut off. If that happens, and that person goes out and gets into an accident, then the bar can be held liable for it. Of course, a bar isn’t behind every drunk-driving accident, but they are behind some. And if every bar that could be held responsible for causing an accident like this was held responsible, we’d see the number of DUI accidents plummet. In any case, this is something that should definitely be looked into, and has the potential to change the way this accident is handled.
