El Dorado Springs, MO — There was a bad accident between two pickup trucks and a car along Highway E this past Monday afternoon, June 1, 2015. Police said that two people were injured in the wreck, which happened near El Dorado Springs: Kathryn Fitzpatrick, 52 years old, and Thelma Ellifrits, 41.
Fitzpatrick was the driver of a car involved in a wreck with two pickup trucks, police said. She was driving her car west along Highway E and was about 4 miles from Montevallo when a pickup truck headed the opposite direction swerved into her path while trying to pass another truck.
That driver, Derek Morerod, 36, lost control while trying to pass the other truck and ended up hitting both Fitzpatrick’s car and the pickup truck he was trying to pass.
Kathryn Fitzpatrick was airlifted from the scene to be treated for serious injuries while Thelma Ellifrits, a passenger in the truck that was being passed, was only slightly hurt and wasn’t taken to a hospital at all.
The cause of the accident appears to be Morerod’s truck attempting to overtake the second truck, but this may need some more investigation.
