Middle River, MD — On Friday morning of last week, May 29, 2015, there was an apparent hydrochloric acid spill at the Middle River Aircraft plant. It happened around 11:00 a.m. in the morning and at least two workers were splashed by the acid spill, but only one wasn’t wearing respiratory gear.
The worker, who wasn’t named, had to be taken to a hospital after he apparently inhaled some of the hydrochloric acid fumes. It’s not clear if he was in good or bad condition, though.
The acid spill happened while the liquid was being taken from container and placed into another. A transfer hose was apparently being used, but it burst and spray the acid on the two workers handling it.
Again, both of the workers were wearing their protective suits, but one of the men didn’t have any respiratory gear, so he was sent to a hospital.
It’s not clear if OSHA will be involved in any investigation.
