Los Alamos, NM — There was an accident at the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center that left a worker at the sister organization, the Los Alamos National Laboratory, with very serious burns earlier this month. Authorities at the Neutron Science Center confirmed that on Monday, May 4, a worker was critically burned after enduring some sort of accident while doing maintenance work.
The exact cause of the man’s burns aren’t known, but we do know that his injuries were serious enough to require a helicopter trip to a hospital. Along with this critically burned man, another 8 employees were treated at another hospital for less serious injuries. At least one of them was required to stay at the hospital while the others were able to leave later.
The Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) said they’d investigate this some more, but haven’t released any updates since the beginning of May.
