Odessa, TX — A young man riding a dirt bike at a construction site in far northern Odessa was badly injured after an accident on Thursday night, May 21, 2015. Police said that 23-year old Derek Paral was hurt after his bike lost control and crashed into a dirt mound at about 9:30 p.m. last night.
He was allegedly riding his off-road dirt bike at a construction site located at Rainbow Drive and 91st Street after it had apparently shut down for the night.
As he was riding along, he crashed into a dirt mound and was flung from his dirt bike. Paramedics responded to the scene and had to take him to a nearby hospital to be treated for major injuries.
They didn’t say what caused the accident, but it’s possible Paral was trying to do a “jump” when he lost control of the bike.
What’s not clear, however, is whether the construction was open and unguarded or if Paral was there without permission.
