HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, NY — New York State Police have named Maria Segundo and Luis Jacho as the two workers that died in an explosion in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York on Thursday, May 7th, 2015. News reports did not say what time the accident took place Friday.
Police believe that 50-year-old Maria Segundo and 52-year-old Luis Jacho were killed when the tank they were clearing out exploded for reasons currently under investigation. Officials suspect that the tank contained gasoline, but the workers thought it was heating oil, which requires different handling methods.
Segundo and Jacho died in the accident.
Representatives from the Department of Enviromental Protection were assisting with the accident investigation along with OSHA officials.
