Police in Corpus Christi, TX Report Tow Truck Accident on Holly Road, Man Injured
www.kztv10.comCorpus Christi, TX — The news reports in Corpus Christi talked about an accident this morning, Wednesday, May 20, 2015 that left an elderly man injured. They said that a tow truck and a car were involved in a wreck along Holly Road on Wednesday morning, which left the elderly man in serious condition. However, the police think that a medical condition may have contributed to this wreck. They said that the elderly man was driving his white pickup truck along Holly Road today when he crashed into the back of an Apollo Towing Service truck — which had been parked on the side of the road.
The tow truck allegedly had its lights on, but it’s not clear if it was blocking the road or on the shoulder.
The tow truck’s driver wasn’t harmed. So far, the police said they might look into this further, but aren’t worried about pressing charges against the tow truck driver, as they believe the victim had a medical emergency right before the crash.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
