Commentary:
By just reading over the facts reported in the news, it seems to me like it is a miracle that this accident wasn’t significantly worse. I can’t even begin to fathom how this accident happened, given that the school bus door is perfectly within eye-shot of the driver. Furthermore, why is a bus driver closing the bus doors even remotely close enough to pinch a student’s backpack? I can’t even begin to tell you how much had to go wrong for this to take place. So what happens next? Given the accident was caused by a school district bus, there are going to be a few hurdles to jump over and hoops to jump through to file a claim against this government organization. It should be a surprise to nobody to lean that the government hasn’t made it easy for victims to seek reparations, but it is by no means impossible. It is simply going to take somebody familiar with the path to help navigate along the way, but moving quickly is always the best bet.
