Verona, KY — A man driving his car along U.S. 42 last Thursday lost control and veered into oncoming traffic, critically injuring himself and a 9-year old girl in the other car. Police said that 9-year old Heidi Lopez and her mother, 41-year old Alicia Bautista, were both injured after they were hit head-on by 45-year old Todd Freyler’s vehicle.
This was along U.S. 42 on Thursday night, May 14, at about 9:00 p.m.
Freyler had been driving his Hyundai Accent north along U.S. 42 that night when he lost control and swerved across the center lines and hit Mrs. Bautista’s minivan head-on. This was near Mudlick Road. After the wreck, Freyler’s car flipped over and the minivan went into a ditch.
The accident left both Todd Freyler and Heidi Lopez with critical injuries while Alicia Bautista was less seriously harmed.
Police aren’t sure why Freyler lost control of his car, but they are investigating some more.
