Stevensburg, VA — There was a wreck reported along Route 3 on Monday morning of this week (May 11, 2015) that resulted in a man from Locust Grove being taken to a hospital with serious injuries. David Shepherd, 41, was initially in serious condition after his pickup truck was in an accident with a semi-truck, but was upgraded to “good” condition as of Tuesday, May 12.
The accident I’m talking about happened at about 12:00 p.m. on Monday afternoon, just east of Stevensburg.
Shepherd had been driving his pickup truck west along Route 3 that afternoon when he appeared to lose control of it near Clay Hill Road. Police said his truck swerved into the oncoming lanes of traffic, where he crashed head-on into an eastbound semi-truck.
The accident caused a fire to start in the cab of the tractor-trailer, but that driver was able to escape with the help of some passersby who stopped.
Shepherd had allegedly been spotted driving “erratically” in the minutes leading up to this accident, but police haven’t addressed that in any of their reports so far.
