Police ID Rachel Remencus as Teen Injured by 18-Wheeler Wreck in Greenville, OH

Greenville, OH — Police reported last Friday night that a wreck had taken place south of Greenville earlier that afternoon, leaving a teenager from New Madison with injuries. They said that 18-year old Rachel Remencus was hurt after her car was hit by an 18-wheeler along U.S. 36 in an accident.

This accident happened around 3:45 p.m. on Friday afternoon, May 8, 2015.

According to the reports, Remencus had been driving her Chevy Impala along U.S. 36 that afternoon, headed west. She was in between Highway 121 and U.S. 127 when her Chevy clipped the back end of an 18-wheeler truck that was headed in the opposite direction.

The accident left Remencus trapped in her car and she had to be rescued, then taken to a hospital. It’s not clear how bad her injuries were.

The truck driver, 51-year old Robert Alderton, told police that Remencus’ car had started to swerve into his lane on U.S. 36, so he tried to swerve and avoid a wreck — but she crashed into the back part of his trailer anyway. It’s not clear if that’s what actually happened, but that’s what the news reports seemed to imply.

More details might be released later.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
