Passenger Injured in Accident with Roy’s Pizza Delivery Van in St. George, UT

St. George, UT — Police say that the driver of a Roy’s Pizza delivery vehicle wasn’t paying attention to the road when he rear-ended another vehicle carrying two individuals in St. George, Utah, on Thursday, May 7, 2015. The accident happened at the intersection of Foremaster Drive and River Road, around 5:45 in the evening.

The two individuals at the receiving end of the pizza delivery vehicle’s inattention were stopped at the intersection in a Subaru Forester when the accident happened. The passenger inside that vehicle was injured and taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center. Reports say that the driver of the Subaru was not injured.

The delivery driver was also uninjured and police cited him for following too closely.

The names of those involved weren’t released. The accident is still being investigated.

It’s a little alarming to hear about accidents in which a driver just isn’t paying attention to the road, and it reminds us that something like this could literally happen to anyone. Luckily, those involved don’t seem to have been injured too badly. However, I would caution anyone involved in an accident like this to rush to any conclusions, as far as that is concerned. Injuries can take several days to fully manifest themselves. So what doesn’t hurt today may hurt tomorrow. As the pizza delivery vehicle is responsible for this accident, they will have to make things right with the victims, although being found at fault by the police doesn’t constitute a legal obligation for them to do that. Often in these incidents, victims are forced to seek out legal counsel and together devise a way to move forward.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
