Montpelier, VA — On Monday afternoon of this week, April 27, a school bus crashed in rural Montpelier and left three students on the bus with injuries. The bus driver, police said, was later charged with “Following Too Closely.”
According to the news reports, the accident happened on Monday afternoon along Route 33, near Bethany Church Road.
Police said that a school bus for Hanover County was headed west along Mountain Road/Route 33 when it came upon a Ford F-150 pickup truck stopped in the middle of the lane near Bethany Church Road.
The truck was apparently waiting to make a left turn, the police said, when the school bus failed to stop in time and crashed into the back of it. Three students on the bus were injured and taken to a hospital, but they didn’t appear to be in serious condition.
The bus driver, however, was charged for not keeping a safe distance. The Ford truck’s driver wasn’t harmed.
