David Lindsey Killed on I-70 after Accident with Cargo Truck near Brazil, Indiana

Brazil, IN — A man from Clay City was killed this past Monday night (April 27, 2014) after a serious accident on I-70. The man who died was identified as David Lindsey, 49, and the accident took place near the Brazil exit on I-70.

The police say that Lindsey was driving west along I-70 that night when he lost control of his pickup truck and swerved off the side of the road, then over-corrected and ended up flipping his truck multiple times.

He was ejected from his pickup truck during the rollover and ended up trapped underneath it. After he was rescued and taken to a hospital, he later passed away from his injuries. Later, the police said that witnesses came forward and claimed that a white cargo truck was driving near Lindsey’s truck that night and was apparently driving erratically.

So far, this has been substantiated, but there may need to be some more investigation.

Commentary:

At least two reports I’ve seen mention this “cargo truck” that was allegedly driving erratically before the wreck. If that has any validity, then I would be very interested in seeing about the driver of that truck and why he was driving erratically. At the end of the day, this accident might not have been only the driver’s fault, but even the company the cargo truck driver was working for.

Obviously, this needs to be investigated some more, but it doesn’t sound like the police are really searching too hard for the cargo truck, which seems like a mistake to me.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
