John Crawford Injured in Semi-Trailer Accident on I-70 in Denver, CO

Denver, CO — Several people were injured in a multi-vehicle accident in Denver, Colorado, on Friday, April 17, 2015. The accident took place on Interstate 70, not far from the Denver International Airport.

A bus carrying members of the band Twin Shadow crashed into the back of a semi-trailer while driving on the interstate. The collision sent the bus into another semi-truck, as well as another tour bus, this one carrying members of the country band Thompson Square.

John Crawford, the 41-year-old driver of Twin Shadow’s bus, was seriously injured in the accident and taken to a local hospital. Others on board the bus suffered minor to moderate injuries.

Reports say that no one in the other vehicles was hurt. The accident is currently being investigated, however, authorities say that conditions on the road were foggy and wet at the time.

Conditions on the road were wet, and it was foggy out, that’s true. But those two things alone wouldn’t necessarily have caused an accident like this to happen. I have to wonder if the semi involved was on the road or parked on the shoulder when the accident happened. If it was parked on the shoulder, there are very specific protocols it has to follow regarding signage for vehicles traveling behind it. The absence of that signage could definitely have contributed to an accident like this. And if it wasn’t there, then it’s possible the trucking company could be held liable for the crash.

Of course, this is only speculation. Right now, we don’t know what happened. Hopefully the investigation into the crash will be able to shed some light on things.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
