Commentary:

Does anybody know if the crash was due to a flaw in the plane, or did a company that maintain the aircraft do a poor job? There are several reasons that planes make emergency landings, and determining what went wrong in this accident may actually show the crash was a result of somebody simply slacking off on the job. Now many people would assume that the National Transportation Safety Board would discover this, and sure, they may, but they may discover it a year, or a year and a half down the road when their backlogged cases are completed. This time duration can eat away almost 75% of the time victims are alloted to file a claim should one be necessary. To get around these long times, an independent investigation can be arranged, much like a second (faster) opinion from a doctor with a medical diagnosis. Independent crash investigators are not burdened with a backlog of cases from all over the country, and usually find details much faster than an overworked government agency.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
