Commentary:
Whenever I see an accident fact pattern that looks like this, it never ceases to bewilder and terrify me. Now, no matter how bad this looks, no matter how red-handed the driver may have been busted behind the wheel, accidents that involve school buses or any government vehicle, things are a bit more complex than accidents that involve private or commercial vehicles. Essentially, the government has built a maze constructed of miles of red tape in order to file a claim against them. The most common pitfall I’ve seen centers around significantly shorter time limits that weed out claims before they even become an issue because people rest on their laurels and take their time before acting. With any government vehicle accident, moving quickly on your feet is going to yield the best results. These mazes are by no means impassable, but it is going to take somebody experienced to help navigate, and possibly find a few workarounds.
