San Antonio, TX: Two Injured by Car Accident at West & Basse

San Antonio, TX — There was an accident reported on the north side of SA this past Sunday night (April 12, 2015) that left two people with injuries. Police didn’t report a lot of details, but gave the location of the crash and said that a car and an SUV collided with each other that night around 8:45 p.m.
According to their reports, the SUV was driving across a large parking lot at the corner of West Avenue and Basse Road — the 99 Cents Only Store. As it was cutting across the lot, which was vacant, it was hit by a white car that then spun out of control and hit the side of the building.
Two people, one from each vehicle, were injured by the accident and had to be taken to a hospital. Police said they’d be investigating some more, but didn’t mention whether the drivers would be cited for cutting across a corner lot.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
