Commentary:
I’ve seen too many commenters on the internet blaming the motorcyclist for this accident, but I want to focus on the light pole that was down in the roadway. How long had it been there? Was a utility company notified of it, but due to the late hour, decided it wasn’t an immediate priority? Did the pole simply fall into the road after it was neglected and improperly maintained? There are a lot of reasons why a utility company could be to blame for this accident, so I can’t for the life of me understand why many people are so quick to try and blame a victim. This pole should have never been in the road in the first place.
