Hurst, TX — A man was seriously injured in an accident involving an elevator in Hurst, Texas, on Monday, April 6, 2015. The accident took place around 5:00 in the afternoon.

Local sources say that the man who was injured in the accident was doing repair work. He supposedly leaned over and was hit in the back of the head by the elevator, which was going down.

Where did the accident happen?

Commentary

It’s a safe bet that workers’ comp will come into play here, as the man who was injured was working when the accident took place. However, there are some other things that need to be considered. Was this man a contractor? Who did he work for? My biggest question is, if this man was performing repair work, why was he able to stick his head into an open elevator shaft in the first place? If he was there specifically to work on the elevator, why was it still turned on, and why did he not have any safety gear? Hopefully new sources will be able to shed some light on this accident in the coming days.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
