Anytime I see an accident like this, I wonder if there was a bar involved. Many states have what are known as dram shop laws, which forbid bars from serving those people who are visibly drunk and need to be cut off. The reason for this is, the more alcohol one consumes, the more chance they have of going out and getting into a wreck. If the bar continues to serve that person, and then they go out and get into an accident, the bar can be held liable. Unfortunately, Wisconsin doesn’t have any of these protections. Hopefully that changes within the next few years. Laws like this do a lot to combat what is a very real problem in our country.
