Commentary
There are always going to be things that a driver has little to no time to respond to while out on the road. Sometimes, these things should be expected. That’s why the speed limit is so much lower in residential neighborhoods. People are out walking, they sometimes wander into the street. They need to be looked out for. Even though the other person may be in the wrong, a driver still has an obligation to stop and avoid an accident wherever they can. I’ll admit that I wasn’t at the scene and didn’t see this accident happen, but I have a hard time imagining that it couldn’t have been avoided had the driver here been paying a little closer attention.
