Houston, TX — A man on a bicycle was injured on Wednesday morning of this week, April 1, 2015 after being hit by a car. This happened on the Highway 59 Freeway earlier this morning, the police said. A black sedan crashed into a bicyclist near Main Street’s underpass, leaving the bicyclist with major injuries.
The cause of the accident hasn’t been determined yet and it’s not clear if the car’s driver (who did stop to help out) will be charged for anything. From the news reports, it appears that the black car had cracked windshield and a severely dented hood.
The local police wrote up a report on the accident, but it’s not clear if it will be investigated any more.

Commentary:
No matter what people may think, bicyclists had rights on our roads and highways and must be treated with respect. I don’t know much about what happened here or how it took place but I know the car’s windshield sustained some damage, plus a major dent on the hood, which tells me that it’s very possible the bicyclist here was hit from behind. I’m not saying that automatically makes the car’s driver guilty, but it’s something that needs to be taken into consideration.
