Car Accident Early Saturday in Houston, TX Injures Two on Boone Road

Houston, TX — The news reports in Houston confirmed that a white SUV involved in a wreck this past weekend contained two people, both of whom were injured and required hospitalization. No names were released, but whether alcohol was a factor or not is allegedly being investigated.

The HPD said that a white SUV was driving north on Boone Street in SW Houston at about 1:00 a.m. on Saturday morning (March 28, 2015) when the driver lost control. The SUV veered off the road at Beechnut Street and crashed into a tree, leaving both the driver and passenger with injuries.

The front-end damage to the SUV was severe, but it’s not clear how bad the injuries were. The driver of the SUV plus a woman in the backseat were both taken to a hospital.

The news said that the police are looking into whether alcohol might’ve been a factor.

The news said that alcohol might be a factor, so I wanted to share a little information that people may find helpful. In Texas, it’s obviously illegal to drive while intoxicated, but many don’t know that it’s also against the law for bars (or other licensed providers of alcohol) to sell alcohol to those who are already intoxicated.

When a bar breaks these rules, we have more dangerous drivers on the road, so Texas law allows for bars to be punished both criminally (citations, license revocation, etc) and civilly (lawsuits, claims). I’m not saying I think someone here was at a bar – there’s not nearly enough information to go on – but if it was a factor, then don’t just assume that the driver is the only to blame. In all likelihood, it’s possible that a bar was over-zealous and irresponsible in the way they served the alcohol.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
