Alleged Drunk-Driving Accident in San Antonio, TX, Injures Woman on Perrin Beitel Road

San Antonio, TX — A woman was sent to the hospital following an accident in San Antonio, Texas, that police say was caused by a drunk driver. The accident took place on Perrin Beitel Road on Saturday, March 21, 2015, around 1:00 in the morning.

According to local reports, a Silver Mitsubishi was traveling along Perrin Beitel when it crossed the road’s center line and collided with a Dodge. A passenger inside the Dodge suffered a broken leg and emergency workers transported her to Northeast Baptist Hospital.

Police say that the driver of the Mitsubishi was intoxicated at the time. She was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.

If the driver of the Mitsubishi was drunk at the time of the crash, I’d be really interested in knowing where she got the liquor from, because that could potentially have an impact on how the accident is handled going forward. Texas law says that establishments that serve alcohol aren’t allowed to serve those who are obviously intoxicated. If the woman involved in this accident was over-served when she should have been cut off, and then went out and got into an accident, it’s possible that the bar could be held partially liable for it. Laws like this are designed specifically to cut down on these kinds of accidents, so when a bar chooses to ignore them — as they often do — they’re actively contributing to the accident. And they need to be held responsible for it. The driver also needs to be held accountable. That’s for sure. But the bar shouldn’t be allowed to continue opening their doors day after day as if they’re contributing to the problem.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
