Midland, TX — A bicyclist was hospitalized following an accident that took place in Midland, Texas, on Wednesday, March 25, 2015. The accident happened on FM 1788, about a mile south of Interstate 20, sometime Wednesday evening.
According to local reports, the bicyclist was riding along 1788 when a passing vehicle left his lane and crashed into him. The bicyclist’s name has not yet been released.
Emergency workers transported the man to Midland Memorial Hospital. At last report, he was listed in serious condition.
Reports say that the driver responsible for the crash has not yet been charged.

Unfortunately, I see way too many of these sorts of accidents. And the thing is, most of them are caused because the driver just isn’t doing a good enough job paying attention to the road ahead of him. He’s fiddling with his phone or maybe his GPS, takes his eyes off the road, swerves, and someone gets hurt. Obviously, the driver can and should be held liable for that. That’s negligent behavior. And the truth is, holding people who do that sort of thing responsible for it is one of the best ways to make sure they don’t do it again somewhere down the line.
