West Haven, CT — A construction worker was injured after an accident that took place at a house under construction in West Haven, Connecticut, on Monday, March 23, 2015. The accident took place near the intersection of Shingle Hill Road and Anthony Drive, around 9:15 in the morning.
According to local reports, the man injured in the accident was working on the first floor of a raised ranch when he fell about 12 feet to the ground below.
Emergency workers transported the man to Yale-New Haven Hospital for the treatment of his injuries. The man’s name has not been released and news sources had no information on the man’s current condition.
The accident is still being investigated.

I’m honestly surprised at the number of accidents I see that are just like this one. You would think that more companies would offer their workers’ some sort of safety equipment when they’re working on a raised platform, but that’s just not the case. Why? It could be a few things. Some employers may balk at the cost of the equipment. Others may look at working below a certain height as being an acceptable risk. Whatever the reason, it can be terribly irresponsible, and put people in unnecessary danger.
