Commentary:

When a rear-end collision between massive commercial vehicles like dump trucks and tractor-trailers, the front driver is rarely injured, and sometimes never even feels the impact. The fact that the front truck driver not only felt the impact, but was injured by it tells me there must have been a great deal of force transferred from the rear truck to the front one. Plainly put, the rear driver must have been going pretty quick. This notion, coupled with the fact that the tractor-trailer driver was cited immediately following the accident tells me that the trucking company is probably running damage control strategy meetings right now to insulate their profits from harm, instead of taking responsibility for the damage they caused from the get-go. No matter how open-and-shut this looks, I always tell people to expect a fight. Never once have I seen a trucking company take responsibility for an accident without some legal strong arming.

I'm a former employee. I had brought up this exact scenario and suggested a maintenance procedure that would eliminate the possibility of this type injury. Obviously my warning went unheeded.

I was actually a couple cars back from this wreck, one of the first on the scene, and helped administer CPR on the victims. The truck driver was going way too fast, but it was actually his trailer that swung around and hit the suv, the semi-truck ended in the median.

A lot of people say smack about lawyers, but I want to say that I'm glad there is a way that people who are wronged by corporate neglect can get justice and force change. We are living in a world where corporations and govt care less than ever about common people, and I support your work. I hope I will never need your services.

Thank you for posting these accident articles on your site. At the company that I work for, e deal with monitoring construction activity and work around trenches and all sorts of construction equipment/vehicles. I sometimes wonder if construction companies have enough safety training to inform employees of how to protect themselves while on the job.
