Commerce Township, MI — There was an accident in Commerce Charter Township earlier this month that critically injured a young man. Police said that it happened on Saturday, January 3, and involved a Jeep Cherokee.
According to the news reports, the 24-year old man was driving his Jeep Cherokee along Wise Road that Saturday afternoon around 2:15 p.m. while a 16-year old in another car was headed in the opposite direction. As they neared each other, it appears that the 16-year old lost control of his car and veered into oncoming traffic, where he crashed into the 24-year old man’s Jeep.
The accident caused major damage to the Jeep and the man had to be extricated by emergency workers. After both he and the 16-year old were taken to a local hospital, authorities confirmed that the 24-year old man was in serious condition while the teen was in stable condition.
Right now, the police aren’t sure why the teen lost control that afternoon, but they have effectively ruled out the possibility of alcohol.
