Lee County, MS — There was a fatal accident along Highway 45 in Guntown this past Thursday evening that claimed the life of a local man in Lee County. Eddie Caldwell, 58, died on Thursday (December 4, 2014) after a serious accident with an 18-wheeler truck, the police said.
This happened around 5:30 p.m. yesterday evening, as Caldwell was driving along northbound Highway 45 in his car. Highway 45 is the main highway in Guntown.
As Caldwell was driving north, he tried to make a left turn at some point, but accidentally turned in front of an oncoming 18-wheeler in the southbound lanes. Caldwell’s car was hit by the 18-wheeler, which swerved, but wasn’t able to avoid the collision.
As a result, Caldwell was partly thrown from his car and died at the scene from his injuries. The truck driver, who wasn’t named, wasn’t harmed. More investigated by the Lee County officials was expected, but they said that it’s possible simple inattention was a factor.
