CANYONVILLE, OR — One person was killed in a head-on collision between a passenger car and a tractor-trailer that happened in Canyonville, Oregon on Thursday, November 13th, 2014. The news report from The Register Guard said that the accident happened sometime Thursday night.
Police in charge of the accident investigation said that one woman died when the Mazda 3 she was driving and a tractor-trailer collided head-on while driving on Interstate 5. Authorities said that the Mazda was driving in the north in the southbound lanes when she struck the tractor-trailer head-on.
The woman was pronounced dead after the accident.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was identified in the news report as 41-year-old Jose Garcias, who was taken to the hospital for the injuries he sustained in the accident.
Oregon State Police are currently investigating the accident, and hope any eyewitnesses that have not yet come forward will do so to help police better understand what happened in the crash.
