Louisville, KY — Emergency workers had to transport a man to the hospital with trauma injuries after a work accident at the site of the future Embassy Suites in downtown Louisville, Kentucky. The accident took place around 7:15 in the morning, on Friday, October 24, 2014.
Several of the man’s co-workers say that he fell from scaffolding. Whenever the 911 call was placed, it was said that the man was suffering from cardiac arrest.
The man has yet to be identified, although news reports say that he works for BJB Incorporated, one of several companies that’s been contracted to work on the hotel.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been contacted and is investigating the matter.

Commentary
From what’s been reported, it seems as if the injured worker was an employee of BJB Incorporated, which looks to be in the business of renovating properties, and that they were brought in to run the project. I mention that only to make clear that they weren’t a subcontractor. If that’s the case, it’s a pretty safe bet that his injuries are going to be covered by his employer’s workers’ comp policy. Like many know, workers’ comp will cover things like lost wages and medical expenses following an accident like this. That’s going to be the only option available to him unless it can be shown that a third party — whether it was the property owner, or perhaps subcontractor — was somehow complicit in the accident.
